Whale Watching and The Golden Circle

Whale Watching and The Golden Circle

The Whale Watching and The Golden Circle tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena and the “must-see” spots when visiting the country. The Golden circle takes it name from Gullfoss or the Golden waterfall.

Thingvellir National Park

Our first stop is at the Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. Þingvellir is a national treasure and in the mind of many Icelanders a sacred place. The Þingvellir area is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland. In other words, it is situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Geysir geothermal Park

From Þingvellir we head to the geothermal area around the Geysir hot spring. Even though the actual famous Geysir is not active at the moment there is a relative next to it called Strokkur. This is also an extraordinary spouting hot spring.

Gullfoss waterfall

From there we continue on to Gullfoss, “the Golden waterfall”, where you can get really close and experience its full power first hand. For your information, the “gull” or “gold” in the name is due to the color of the glacier river of Hvítá (The White river).

The Whale Watching

When back to Reykjavik we will go Whale Watching. The whales you´ll get the chance to see on your tour most commonly to include minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises, and even the majestic humpback whales. A wide variety of seabirds can also be observed on this tour.

Furthermore, a café, providing refreshments for your convenience is on board. The extra larger viewing deck boasts a fantastic panoramic view.
